White Horse Navajo Indian

White Horse was a full blooded Navajo Indian who was convicted of Murder in the 2nd degree. He was received into the New mexico State prison on 20 May 1905 as Inmate #1890.

As a practice among his tribe he was a polygamist and for what ever reason had a confrontation with one of his wives and he struck her, which was common practice. He struck her too hard killing her and going to prison for it. He was originally sentenced to 50 years, and he plead guilty.

He was born abt 1868 on the Navajo reservation in New Mexico, according to records he had 3 children at the time and at least one other wife, who is listed as Mrs White Horse nearest living relative.

Mr. Perry a Attorney became his lawyer to get him paroled from prison.

White Horse spent over 11 years in prison before being paroled on 1 Feb 1916, what a culture shock.

By 1930 White Horse was a widow living alone as a shepherd he was 60 years old.
