What I found interesting and peaked my curiosity was this letter Matt received while he was in prison.

These poor children had to of been scared half to death, losing their dad and his income, then moving and losing their mom. I found no information on her at all on this matter. She must not have been deported because she is buried in the Eveleth Cemetery in Eveleth, ST Louis, MN with her husband.
She died 1934 He died 23 Aug 1954.

I made them a tree on Ancestry and there is only one other one, no information on the deportation.

She came to America on this ship La Touraine

Matt Strukel worked for the Oliver Iron Mining Company in Hibbing, MN

This photograph was taken in Eveleth, MN on August 21, 1923. Other than indicating that the event was the 11th meeting of the General Safety Committee of Oliver Iron Mining Co., the people pictured were not identified. Note the one woman seated in the front/center. Photo courtesy of Bill Hill of Eveleth, MN.

I am not sure if he is in this photo.

I am still doing some research and will update this as I find more information.
