Mrs. Emma Jordan: Disbarred 15 Jul 1898

Mrs. Emma Jordan was born Emma Hardin on about 1848 in Ohio or Illinois to Henry Hardin (1810-1870) & Anna Gash. She married in 1885 to George Washington Jordan born about 1862 in Georgia.

They had 3 children:

Anson Jordan born 4 Sep 1897 Texas he was a printer for the Leavenworth Times.

May B Jordan born 1880
Myrtle Jordan 1904-1982

I checked Ancestry and Newspapers.com and found a big fat zero as why she was disbarred.

She died 1922 in Salina, Kansas, I found her obituary

If a family see this this or someone wants to do more research please lets us know why she was disbarred. I find it very interesting that she was lawyer in 1898 and then to be disbarred....HUM...Interesting.

  1. I find this interesting that she was disbarred from the Department of the Interior, and not the Justice Department. Perhaps she had worked as an attorney, or agent, for the Indians at some point, and the Department of the Interior found out she wasn't an attorney after all. Any record of her going to school to become an attorney? Just a strange case!
