The Chadwell Brothers Go To Prison Together

Verner Clay Chadwell born 8 Jan 1902 in Cameron, LA to Benjamin L Chadwell (1861-1913) and Lillie Helen Bonsulo (1877-1962). He and his brother Guy Chadwell who was born 18 Sep 1899 in Cameron, LA, were arrested and tried and convicted of Conspiracy Violation of  Prohibition Act. 

Prohibition in the United States was a nationwide constitutional ban on the production, importation, transportation, and sale of alcoholic beverages from 1920 to 1933.

Verner was Received at Leavenworth on 18 Feb 1924 for a 18 month term along with his brother Guy, they were arresed in San Antonio, TX

Verner was Inmate #20742 age 22 































Verner was married twice Genevieve ????
and Wilhelmina Armstead married 6 Aug 1922

Might of had a 3rd wife named Alameda who's name is listed on his prison records... He died 7 Aug 1935 in El Paso, TX I found no other criminal records for him.



Guy Chadwell was inmate #20741 age 24


































Guy was married twice: Marcella J Rosberry 21 Jan 1922 in Port Arthur, TX,  they had 2 children a boy and a girl.
On 7 Nov 1918 in Jefferson County, TX Married Alice Purgahn. Guy died 10 Aug 1925 in Port Arthur, TX

Their other sibling were:
Sadie Rae Chadwell 1894-1988
Tolbert Grafton Chadwell 1895-
Verna Chadwell 1902- (I think she was a twin to Verner)
Myrth Chadwell 1905-
Harold Angus Chadwell 1909-1979

  2. Guy & Verner cousins of mine. Their father was Benjamin Chadwell & mother was Lillie Helen Bonsal Not Bonslo. I have a copy of their marriage record. I have filled a large notebook with info on Guy & Marsella Rasberry. I have pictures, documents & newspaper articles & will be happy to share. It is an amazing story.
