Viola Lowe: Forgery

Viola Katherine Lowe was born in 1905 in Lewiston, ID to Charles H. Lowe (1862-1943) and Margaret Hennessy (1865-1946).  She had a sister born in 1901 in Oklahoma named Emily Margaret Lowe.

Viola's Father escorted her to prison. She was a bookkeeper for County Superintendent of Public Institution, she forged a school district order for warrants in about $15,000. At her Pardon Board Hearing her mother and sister said she was innocent and didn't know what she was doing, this makes me think a man was involved somehow in her life and she was doing this for him not realizing how much trouble she could get into. She only served 11 months. I couldn't find a paper trail for her after she got out. No death information on her or her sister. But I made her a tree on Ancestry and I will keep plugging away at it, something will show show up.

Her great grandmother had kept a diary, I was contacted by someone at the Trinity County Historical Society. Here is what they told me.

Hi, Gwen,

Your name and link shows on the family tree for Viola Lowe and I am wondering if you have contact with her family. I have been doing some research on the Patrick & Mariah Hennessy family here in Trinity County, California, and I thought she might be interested that I have in hand right now a diary covering 5 years in the mid-1920s written by her grandmother, Mariah (Maria) Hennessy. I work with the Trinity County Historical Society and the diary will be preserved in our Jake Jackson Museum in Weaverville, California, but right now I plan to try to type out the whole thing (90 large pages of small handwriting).

How exciting!!!!!!
