Amelia Olsen: Unsolved Murder

 Amelia Olsen was working at a tailor shop for $5 a week on Indiana St & Curtis St in Chicago, IL. She was the only income for her family as her stepfather had been injured and was disabled do to his job he had at the Northern Car Shop.

They lived on Thomas Street between Rockwell and Western Ave. With her mother and sister as well as the stepfather.

Amelia was about 19 or 20 years old when she was murdered  near the intersection of Leavill Street and Chicago Ave. On 15 Jan 1884.

It was reported to the police at 9am Lieut. Steele and Decoctive Ryan of West Chicago Ave Station were on the scene and handled the case.

Such a sad story that this wasn't solved. I looked for her Find A Grave memorial and didn't find one, she may have been buried in the paupers grave area of the city cemetery with no marker. I will keep looking. 

They arrested so many people for this crime it was ridiculous, someone would shout out to the police about something they thing they knew or saw and the police would arrest them. Crazy.
