Charles W Hammond was born 10 Sep 1890 in Washington to Fred W Hammond (1861-1944)and Angline Goldtrip (1865-1944).
Charles came to me as an inmate in the Clark County Jail, once I looked at his mugshot and read the description I had a tug saying keep digging find more. Here it is.
It's clearly stated in his Marks, Scars, Ect he has 3 testicles, I did research on this and it is very rare occurrence.
Men with this condition are born with more than two testes, also known as testicles or gonads. There are only about 200 known reported cases. In the vast majority of cases, the individuals have three testes. ... The additional testicle is usually located within the scrotum.
Now remember this was in 1911 so there wasn't 200 cases known then. I found none in 1911 or even when he was born.
So after I saw that I looked for his prison record for murder.

Newspaper articles explaining he killed his employer and cut up his body.
He never denied his guilt.
As I was going through the census records I noticed he was transferred to Eastern State Hospital on Medical Lake, WA. He was there from 1920 census, 1930 census, and the 1940 census.
He had several siblings:
Harry O'Dell Hammond 1883-1928
Jesse W Hammond 1892-1972
Minnie A Hammond 1895-1973
Josephine Ella Hammond 1898-1968
Rose Ann Hammond 1902-1980 Twin
Mary Hammond 1902-1968 Twin
Lillian Hammond 1905-1999
So I was curious to know if there were any other mental illness' in the family and I found his sister Minnie in the 1920 census in the State Custodial School for the Insane as a jaintoress.
By the 1930 census she was moved to the Northern State Hospital in Medical Lake, WA and remained there through the 1940 census.

Minnie died Dec 1973 and Charles died 10 Aug 1971. I would imagine they both died in an Asylum on Medical Lake.
It's sad they lived with such pain.
I have emailed for Charles records if and when I get them I shall post them here and add them to his tree on Ancestry.
