Pvt. Charlie Banks: Houston, TX Riot 1917 Camp Logan Series

Charlie Banks was born 1895 in Georgia. He had Apoplexy.(unconsciousness or incapacity resulting from a cerebral hemorrhage or stroke.) He had a sister who died of Tuberculosis, and his father was a chronic alcoholic. He brother stated that Charlie had 3 arrests for assault, gambling and forgery. But if he hadn't be thrown in prison for the Texas Riot would he of had a different life?

He enlisted Feb 1915 24th Inf. 3rd Bat. Comp. M.

I found no mugshot for him.

Inmate #13224 Leavenworth Prison

Crime: Mutiny & Murder

Reduced to 28 years 6 months

Paroled possibly in 1929. It is stated in the documents that he had been on parole for 5 1/2 years and that form was dated Aug 1934. I only found the 1920 U. S. Census for him while he was in Leavenworth.

Below are the documents for Clemency.
