August Arkson: Stolen Property

August Arikson was born in 1881 in Sweden.

He had a court date on 3 Apr 1909 for stolen property he missed it.

He was also wanted for the above reason. I can see why he was a very good looking man.

I found no other information for him.

  1. Searching the local paper I found a young man arrested for seduction after he was nabbed trying to escape on a ship back to Ireland. Turned out to be my great grandfather! Unfortunately (fortunately?)no mug shot. According to the newspaper, he had to pay a fine to the Overseer of the poor, but I can't find the record in my county.

  2. Wow what an interesting story, Thank you for sharing....It is rather difficult to find mugshots...I start with a mugshot or record then I do my research. I sure hope you will be able to find something someday.

  3. My grandfather was arrested for seduction and served 5 years in prison. The young lady in question was my grandmother. He had asked her to marry him, just to get her to sleep with him, despite the fact that he was already married with a child. Their one and only sexual encounter resulted in my mother who resulted in...me! :) Such a strange law. It's still on the books in Michigan and states that (paraphrasing) "any man who debauches any single woman is guilty of seduction". It boggles the mind to think how many men have violated this simple law. The prisons would be overflowing, worse than they already are!

    1. That's very interesting, thank you for sharing this...I am very happy your grandparents had a seductive encounter or you wouldn't be here...There are lots of crazy laws still on the books that should re-looked at....This one is a sad one. I came across a women who was arrested for prostitution, vagrancy and being venereal...This was Washington...it was against the law to be venereal..I will post a few of these...I feel for these young ladies....Again thank you for sharing you story...I love to hear from my readers.
