It's stated that John had a mental break down while in Leavenworth. He was put into the Prison Hospital 6 Oct 1919 but recovered but showed signs of depression.
Seriously??? The poor young man was tried for mutiny and murder, stripped of all his military honor and dignity and throw him into prison for life!!!! He missed his home and family and his Army unit.
