Harold Hawk was born 28 Jan 1907 in Detroit, KS to Harvey Rufus Hawk (1871-1927) and Ada Jane Sweigart (1882-1924). They divorced by 1919.
Harold and his brother Herman were stealing bicycles and other objects and vandalizing places along with another boy.
Sad thing is dad was devoted and a church going man, mom would let the children run and she did not keep a clean house according to the reform school records. They kept Harold but only temporarily kept Herman as he was too young and was sent to live with other family members.
Harold became Inmate #3658 at Whittier Reform School on 29 Sep 1919.

Also something puzzling is the reform school record states parents divorced yet they are living together in the 1920 census, maybe the reconciled.
They did move back to Kansas by 1920 census.
Harold as far as I could find was in no further trouble.
Harold left Kansas after he married Leona a lady 20 years older than himself and went back to California where he died 2 July 1963 in Los Angeles.
Herman married Isabel thompson and they had a son Herman Ferris Hawk. Herman died 2 Sep 1938 in Abline, KS
I made him a tree on Ancestry.
