Fanny B Price: Passing Counterfeit Money

Fanny B Price was born about 1837, her prison record says Germany and I don't believe that is correct, she must of been born in Ireland or England. In 1872 she was a saloon keeper on Jackson Street in San Francisco, CA. She was caught passing counterfeit money.

Inmate #5449 San Quentin Prison
Rec: 23 Dec 1872
Term: 1 year
Discharged by order of the court on 23 Dec 1873

She was 35 years old

Here's a link that tells about the counterfeit money during that time. I found it educational.

This was the most detailed article I found. One other short one says cried hysterically for the judge to be lenient on her.

An original $20 gold piece would look like this one.

Today they are worth anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000 depending on the quality.
