John Aakre: Burglary 2nd Degree

John Aakre was born 17 Jan 1890 in Skonnevik, Norway. He Migrated to America when he was 23 years old.

He was living in Montana and was not married.

Inmate #7761 Montana State Prison
Rec: 23 March 1924
Crime: Burglary 2nd Degree
Term: 2-4 Years

He also had a jail sentence for carrying a concealed weapon.

His crime of Burglary was for 15 sacks of oats he stole from a farmer who lived nearby. When the police searched his place they also had found Irish linens worth $300 belonging to Mrs. Dave Dutro. Below is the one and only newspaper clipping I found.

I chose to write about this person because of his crime, many criminals in this era stole things like this, and including chickens, and their things they could kill for food or pawn for money. So when you hear family folklore keep an open mind that your ancestor may have been making choices like this to live or keep their family alive.  I am not saying this is what John did, I do not know what his motives were. But he seems very interesting to me.
