Cayetano Santos Godino born 31 Oct 1896 in Buenos Aires, Argentina to Fiore Godino & Lucia Ruffo.
Cayetano was abused his father having iron fists and his mother ever silent and afraid of her husband.
He was made fun of because of his oversized ears and his body proportions.
He committed his first murder attempt at the early age of 7.
It all started in 1904 through deception, he took the little Miguel de Paoli was his first victim and although he lived the next one would not, this victim was 2 years old.
Anita Neri another victim pictured here, was two years old, he tried to crush her head with a rock. The opportunity was intervened by a policeman made him move away and from then on, he would be more careful.
They called him the Petiso for dwarf. His silly expression and dull look made everyone think he was nothing but a poor boy who would never amount to anything. And that sad characteristic was part of his success: nobody suspected him. That's why no one would ask when little María Rosa Face disappeared from her house. Who would have thought that an eight-year-old had anything to do with it? And yet, he did it! María Rosa's body was never found: when the Petiso confessed to having tried to kill her by squeezing her neck and finishing it out of boredom, burying her alive in a lot, many years of anguish had already passed for the Face Family and on that abandoned lot where they rested the remains of the poor girl had been built a block of flats.
He began to light things on fire. Papers, first. Weeds in the many lots of Parque Patricios, in the surroundings of the church of San Cristóbal, never far from his home. Never far from mom. Small animals, that did not make much noise when they died, later a small tavern, a train station. Always, when the fire was burning, someone saw the him wandering around, fascinated to see the firemen trying to put the fire out.
From 1908 to 1912 his blurred memory of his crimes as he confessed to authorities. They never transcended the horrible acts that, in that lapse of four years in which he transformed from a child to an almost man. Godino simply could not remember them. There are those who say - the sources vary - that he spent them locked up in Marcos Paz, a reformatory where he was taught to write, and that he did not leave until the end of 1911, at the plea of a disconsolate Lucia Ruffo (his mother). Be that as it may, in 1912, the hormones of the fifteen years and the perfection of many years of study in the street career of torturer paid off. Cayetano Santos Godino woke up from his darkness with more desire for blood than ever .
Reyna Bonita Vainicof , his crime, to be stunned by looking at a beautiful showcase of death, She was wearing a snow-white cloth dress. The girl, from a well-bred Jewish family, was five years old and spent the last fifteen days of her life dying in a hospital: someone, whom nobody had been able to see clearly, had set fire to her skirts, and the flames spread in less than a couple of seconds. Someone said to have seen him, enthusiastic about the girl, among the crowd that was watching, horrified, how the authorities took Reyna Bonita to die in the hospital and tears of the mother, who could never recover from the tragedy.
On December 3, 1912, Cayetano Santos Godino, with the promise of buying some chocolate trinkets, attracted little Gesualdo Giordano (with his mother, in the image) , Just two years old, he found him playing in the portal of his home in 2585 Progreso. He tried to drown him with the piolin, as always; but Gesualdo turned around and that, sadly that was his end, more tragic, Petiso broke the line into three and tied the little boy with it, he had already lost his strength to scream for help, when his father, desperate to find him, passed by the site, covered with a murillo that prevented him from seeing his son. Cayetano Santos came out to meet him by surprise, denying he had seen anybody. But within a few hours, Gesualdo's father discovered the baby's body, he had suspicion that the same foolish boy who had told him that he had not seen Gesualdo, had met him, precisely that time, when he left the site in search of a nail thrown in nearby rubble. The nail that appeared through the head of his son. Godino killed him with the greatest pain imaginable.
Cayetano Santos Godino was arrested the next day, after having attended the search efforts of poor Gesualdo and having witnessed the reconstruction of the crime by the police at a time. In his pockets a Petiso kept, proudly, the newspaper clippings that gave account of the crimes he had committed.
The evident mental defects of Godino caused him to find his bones in a mental sanatorium, where he was photographed nude, in those years in which evil was tried to be measured by the criminal's physique. There he tried to attack other inmates; months later, a court declared him mental, but not absolute ,and he sent him to the National Penitentiary. From 1922 he purged his sins. in the Ushuaia prison, the worst place for the worst criminals. In a somewhat innocent attempt to cure him of his mental defects, Ushuaia's management subjected him to an operation to reduce the size of the protrusion of his apricots (EARS), in which he resided, some said, the reason for his evil. But Godina, did not even heal the death that came to visit him that afternoon of 1944 to his cot in cell #90 of Ushuaia. He never regretted his crimes and, what is worse, he was never even aware of the problem of having committed them. That's how terribly simple happiness can be. (His words).
This is where my criminal Justice education comes in and explains the fact that criminals are made, evil is made, all children are born innocent. He never had a chance. So sad for him and especially his victims.
Child serial killers were not so uncommon if you do the research into our history, and sadly as time goes on we will see many more.

I made him a tree on Ancestry and sadly it's the only one, he had 7 brothers.
