Felix Alexander Orsinger: Got Away With Murder

Felix Alexander Orsinger was born 4 April 1866 in Lasalle, IL to George Orsinger (1828-1916) and Julia Gunther (1835-1911).

The Summer of 1888 hos son Felix would bring shame to the family name.








Felix went into Henry Wagner's Bakery (Competition) and started an argument with Mrs. Wagner and slapped her in the mouth, knocking her teeth down her throat. Mr. Wagner came in and threw Flexi out and locked the door. This made Felix even more upset he kicked the swearing vile things at the Wagner's threw the door until he kicked the door in and rushed Mr. Wagner he kicked him in the stomach with great force, that Mr. Wagner died within three minutes. This argument all started on Sunday at the Saengerfest at Peru, IL over the price of bread. and Felix was heard threatening Mr. Wagner life. 
Mr. Wagner was 45 years old and wealthy and highly respected. Felix was but 20 years old and his father was worth $30,000.

Felix never went to prison for this crime. He was acquitted. 

He left Illinois for Iowa and married 2 Oct 1889 in Black Hawk to Adelia Katherine Steinmayer (1867-1947).

Felix died 2 Mar 1922 in Dubuque, IA

  1. Felix Orsinger Sr is my great great grandpa. His middle name was Arthur, not Alexander. I just recently did some probing into the history of my family and was absolutely stunned to hear about this murder story. I'm wondering how on earth he was acquitted! But I have to say I'm a little glad he did, or else I wouldn't exist!
