Sentenced 1 Year delayed sentence

A delayed sentence is where a guilty plea is entered, but sentencing is put off for a period of time. Usually, the deal is if the person does what they are directed to do, pay their fines and restitution, if applicable and has stayed out of trouble then the matter is closed with a dismissal.

If you notice she did have a second conviction Larceny of a Store (Shoplifting) 17 Sep 1938 and was sentenced to 60 days in jail.

Why were these married women shoplifting? What was going on in their lives? What did they steal?
Some questions we may never know the answers to.

The girls were young when the Great Lakes Storm of 1913 hit, and WWI came in April of 1917. Were these factors that shaped their lives? you bet they are. Their father John was an orphan at age 7 sister Eliza was 12 they were living their 28 year old married brother Thomas, at age 38 he was working in a Stationary factory and married and had 5 children in 1910. He had a second wife Cecilia Anderson, his first wife left him and divorced by 1920, she left the kids.

Children from first marriage:

Robert Jones 1899-1933
Sarah Sally Jones 1901-1991
Louisa Jones 1903-199
Lydia M Jones 1905-1991
Etta Mae Jones 1907-1981

I didn't find any children for the second marriage.

Mother's second husband:
George Steven Tappin
1889–1956

Mother dies 1965, Father dies 1963.

Guess there were hardships on all of them. Sad to see but they did stick together as a family in the end.
