Arthur Ray Cowgill: Kidnapping

Arthur "Archie" Ray Cowgill was born 2 Dec 1892 in Tobias, ID to Charles Cowgill (1853-1946) and Lucretia Mellan Jaggar (1857-1931). A family with deep Quaker roots.

He for some unknown reason kidnapped his niece she was 12 years old. He took her in an automobile from Idaho and headed to Oregon, the newspaper article I found give no reason why or which niece.

They had a son.

I found a newspaper article from December 1922 saying he escaped from prison, my thought is he changed his named.

I didn't find his death record, so it undetermined for know. Some trees have bef 1920 some have about 1919, none have his prison record or the newspaper articles. I made him a tree added everything. Maybe someone knows why he kidnapped his niece.
Incredible story if only we had more information.It just goes to show you what other tools are out there to use in your genealogy research, don't limit yourself, explore. He most likely changed his name and didn't stay in one place very long, he may have worked odd jobs until he got enough money to leave the country, or he hopped a train and went to Canada, which was closest to where he was.
