Cyrus C Williams Alias Rex Powers: Dies While on Parole

Cyrus C Williams was born in Wyoming about 1888 his father was John H Williams.

Penal Code 504 PC is the California statute that makes a public officer guilty of embezzlement if he or she: fraudulently uses any public property or funds, and. uses them in a way not consistent with his official authority.

“Every person who makes, passes, utters, or publishes, with intent to defraud any other person, or who, with the like intent, attempts to pass, utter, or publish, or who has in his or her possession…any fictitious or altered bill, note, or check, purporting to be the bill, note, or check, or other instrument in writing for the payment of money or property of any real or fictitious financial institution…is guilty of forgery.”




He was paroled for hospitalization and would die on 6 Aug 1927. I didn't find any newspaper article about his death, or an obituary, which didn't surprise me, I would bet the city buried him.

He claimed to be an engineer but I found a Cyrus Williams in the San Francisco Directory who was a gardener. I wonder what he died of he wasn't that old about 40. 



I did find a passport application for him 13 Feb 1918, he made a trip to Hawaii the 26 March 1918.
