ARRESTED with three other men and two women in Portland, Ore., on Friday. Carl Brehan, alias "Bingo," 28, has been identified as one of two bandits who held np the paymaster's staff of the Empire Stevedoring Co., 325 Howe street, on April 7 and escaped with a payroll of $7200. Identification was made friday afternoon from photographs by H. Drinkwater of the paymaster's staff of the company, and Col. R. D. Williams, harbor commissioner, who came upon the scene while the robbery was being carried out. Chief John Cameron Is In communication with Chief R. V. Jenkins of Portland, and arrangements will be made to have other witnesses of the robbery here attempt to identify the arrested men.

20 June 1925 in Tacoma, WA he marries Katherine Sternberg (1906-1957). I didn't find a marriage record for him and Juanita, I think she may have given the police a fake name. He also had a wife named Myrtle who was listed in the city directory with him in Tacoma, WA in 1947. There there is another Alberta M Palmer married 14 Dec 1940 in Pierce Co., WA. She is a a maybe, I can't prove it's him on the marriage licence.
I did find his WWII Registration Card, read it carefully...I thought this was humorous. He put Dective of the Tacoma Police Department down for the person who always knows where he is.
I wonder where his nickname "Bingo" came from.
Carl died most likely in prison on 18 Apr 1958 in Walla Walla, WA.
He is buried in Mountain View Cemetery, so a family member or friend must of claimed his body and him buried there perhaps.

After reading the scores of newspaper articles on him, he was a man who loved to make a name for himself, I googled him and came up empty, I figured someone must of written a book on him and all his escapades but there's nothing. I looked on the Washington digital archives online where they hold some WSP mugshots but his is missing. I would bet he also had an FBI number. If a family wanted to search his criminal career further, I would get those records and his court records. Kinda funny but his story reminds me of that old movie called "Bugsy Malone" .
