They had a son John Jay Patterson (1914-1945). I do not know why he died, I searched newspapers and didn't find anything.

1940 census their son John is living with his grandparents, the Patterson's and he was on his 2nd year of college in Clatskanie, Columbia, Oregon. He was married, married in 1934 to Beatrice Alene WAlker (1914-2006) they would have 2 children a boy & a girl.
So why did John die so young?
