Lula Mae Blood: Sacramento Jail 1945

Lula Mae Blood was born 1 Dec 1921 in NE, to Charles Adelbert Blood (1863-1949) Grace Gertrude Chesmore (1881-1940).

Inmate: #5371 Sacramento, CA Jail
Arrested: 17 July 1945
Crime: Vagrancy
Quarantined, has been loitering in the lower end bars and picking up sailors.

17 Feb 1946 she was killed by a car as she was walking with Robert Farrer. She was living with her brother Nelson. Another newspaper account says she was hit by 2 cars.

Lula's sibling's:

Nelson Morris Blood
1901–1950
Veda Frances Blood
1904–1983
Emmett W Blood
1906–1974
Viola Ellen Blood
1908–1983
Frederick Charles Blood
1911–1986
Clara Blood
1914–1974
Walter William Blood

1918–1993

I couldn't find her in the 1940 census. One of the newspaper articles claimed she was living with her Brother Nelson, so I tried looking for a 1940 census for him, I didn't find anything. Grace would of been 40 something when she had Lula. Lula may have had some mental and physical issues due to this, and needed care. Grace died in 1940 and was buried in Atwood, KS. This could be the reason I didn't find them in a census, they were probably traveling there to bury her.
