Jefferson Patterson Kemp was born 14 Dec 1859 in Indiana to David H Kemp (1818-1890) & Mary Ann Price (1830-1862).
I was searching through the Coroner's reports 1896-1935 Monroe County, Indiana (Which you can find if you Google it and it's in PDF for download), I came across a Lucy Barber murdered by Jefferson P Kemp. So I looked on Newspapers.com for Jefferson and came across the above article and the two below.

08/29/1928 KEMP, Jefferson P 69 5'10"/235 Gunshot wound inflicted with suicidal intent; the ball, a .45 calibre, entered the left parietal bone passing through the posterior brain and through the right parietal bone making a large wound from which he died at 6:05 p.m., the shot having been fired at 3:20p.m.//$1.12 which were given to his widow.
08/29/1928 BARBER, Lucy 86 5'/85 Gunshot wound, caused by a gun in the hands of Jefferson P. Kemp - done with homicidal intent; the bullet, a .45 calibre, passing through the heart near the apex,causing instant death.//Nothing of value.

His wife died in Florida with their daughter Lulu.
Jefferson's father was the founder of Kempton, Indiana.
David Kemp was the founder of the town of Kempton, Indiana. He was the son of Gilbert KEMP and Rebecca CURSMAN (Curfman?). Rebecca CURSMAN was born 6 JUL 1790 in Maryland, and died 6 FEB 1848 in Kempton, Tipton, Indiana.
Sad ending for this family.
