Wladyslav gets caught on a train and his held in custody in a jail in Jamestown, PA. He confesses and is extradited to Canada.

Waclaw Winicki (Woclaw Wojnicki) was born 13 Aug 1881 in Poland.

Andreas Slander was born about 1888, he was the youngest of the robbers being only 21 at the time.

These men had robbed several other banks prior to the one in Rainy River. They had robbed 2 in Minnesota and one in Michigan. Andreas was caught in St. Louis and had just been married 25 Aug 1909 to Carrie Slavick under an alias of Edward Mynarski. They had been living at 2521 A Gilmore Ave, when they police found him. He ran and they chased him down and once cornered he shot himself in the head. They published photos of his bride in the newspapers.

She was held in jail over night for questioning and her mother was allowed to stay with her.

Carrie's father was Stephen Slavick he owned a Grocery store and attached saloon on 439 Hoffmeister Ave, in St Louis.

Andreas once he the marshals were sure he was dead recovered his automatic .38 caliber gun. I have no idea where he is buried. I searched his alias that he was married with and his name from the newspapers I couldn't even find a death certificate.

I believe this could actually be where Andreas and his wife lived before he was killed himself. 2551 A Gilmore Ave, St Louis.

He tried to exchange the Canadian money to US dollars sent his wife. At 317 North Fourth street, last Thursday. George E. Dieckman. who represented the firm, declined to exchange the bank notes,  and as the two women were leaving the office they were arrested. The women admitted that the money they had tried to exchange into United States money had been given them by Slander some time before the tragedy that ended his life.

His first mistake was trying to exchange the money so soon after the robbery.

All three of these men had met and were working together on the railroad in Minnesota right across the River from Rainy River.

Waclaw Winicki possibly died 30 May 1957 in New York. I really didn't find out much genealogy information on them but what a story they made for their descents.

Here's a funny segment for ya watch on a bank robbery
