Julius Frederick Caesar: Robbery While Enlisted

Julius Frederick Caesar was born 3 July 1879 in Brenham, TX to Ernest Caesar (1853-1897) & Sophis Mathilde Huenke (Henkie) (1854-1936).

Term: 18 years

He was transferred from Alcatraz Island. His crime occurred in Percedo in San Francisco, CA. He robbed a man of his watch and money. 

He was a Pvt. in Co I 10th U.S. Infantry he had enlisted 6 Oct 1904.

Caesar was married twice, his first wife Mabel Martin(1892-1921) he married 24 Dec 1916 in Arkansas. Julius was her 2nd or 3rd marriage, they had no children but she did have 2 children from Husband:

He was reviewed by the War Department to receive Clemency and his term was reduced to 8 years.










Julius died 6 Mar 1958 in Pasadena, Texas from a stroke.


1910 he was still in Leavenworth,1912 he is working as a boilermaker helper in Fort Worth, TX. 1920 he was in Arkansas working as a carpenter for the railroad and married to Mabel. In 1930 he he was still a carpenter but for an industry and married to 2nd wife Flossie and two daughters. 1940 he was living in Houston, TX with his wife and daughters working as a Watchman in Residential Section.

He either learned his lesson or the man identified the wrong man. If you read his description of what happened it's seems he was innocent although he doesn't come right out and say it. Makes me think why?

  1. His father was Ernst (one syllable) who died by suicide. Ernst had several brothers, among them another Julius Caesar and Augustus Caesar.
    The transcript of his trial is interesting - the prosecution was laughingly incompetent but he was still convicted.
    The Julius in this story died alone, addicted to alcohol.
    He was my great uncle.
