I also found some voting records for him after his release from prison, he was living in Los Angeles in 1879, 1884, I might have found a Civil War record I posted image below, was he a Major? after that I lost him and couldn't find any other records.
I love his mugshot, the early mugshots are a treasure trove for genealogy research, most people never had their photos taken as they were expensive during this time and even though he was a criminal it's a jewel for a descendant to find.
