As I was doing my research I found John went to Canada when he escaped and his wife and children were there. Here's a Census records for 1916. He was working as an elevator man. He changed his name to Charles Edward Hudson and by 1920 they were living in Spokane, WA.

What a story to be passed down. I must admit I was excited he got away. It was a non-violent crime after all, but stealing is stealing and it wrong but I love his story, I love his family up rooted for their father and husband.
