Inmate: #16486 Folsom Prison
Rec: 15 Oct 1930
Crime: Lewd &Lascivious Conduct & Crimes Vs Nature

1933

1935

Alton had many bullet wounds.

Bullet wound left wrist
Bullet wound left calf
Bullet wound upper left forearm
2 large scars on top of his head.

One would think with all the chances he was given even by the first judge who sentenced him to probation, that he would have turned his life around.

I found his WWI Draft Card.

Notice he was in Folsom Prison at the time this was filled out.

1920 and 1940 Census show him in prison. His mom and dad split and she remarried in 1916 to to Henry William Shrink.
Alton had a brother named Merrill Vaile but no other siblings I could fine and Merrill was a dead end after 1910. He was born in Indiana in about 1893. One census their mom states she was widow but on her marriage license to Henry Shrink it stated she was divorced. I didn't find Alton & Merrill's dad any where.

I didn't find a release date on his last prison record, so I have no idea how long his last stint was, but I would bet since he was in prison on the 1940 census he was release between that and 1950, as she would of been in his 50's by then.

Alton died 3 Oct 1953 in Humboldt County, CA.
