The first trouble with James I found started in 1880 when he committed perjury.

He gets married 20 Aug 1884 in Oakland, CA to Helena Perez. 1885 he has a Grand Larceny Charge.

So his marriage seems to be over at this point in his life, I didn't find a divorce record but his wife stated her and her mother left to live in Sacramento. All these crimes were in San Francisco.

Then in 1886 he gets this charge.

1887 he got another Grand Larceny charge.

As if this wasn't enough trouble in 1897 he is in with his brother. Where he was and what he was doing between 1887 & 1897 I have no idea, I didn't find any California prison records for him or newspaper articles for him during this time.

In 1910 Michael's occupation was a watchman for Spec Police. He was married to Bettina Mueller and they had a son Harold Michael Haley. He died in 1930.

James was lost after this, I have no idea where he went or where he died. I sure he had of found himself in more trouble no matter where he went, I would think it followed him like his shadow.
