Elmer was Deputy Sheriff of Challis County, ID. Why on earth would he get himself caught up in stealing horses? I am sure the pay of a Deputy Sheriff was as much but to turn to crime kind of blows my minds, although I know it happens everyday, but why did he turn to crime? We may never know.

1900 Census he is the state prison and after 1902 there is no records or newspaper articles about him. I wonder what happened to him. Did he get out and return to Texas? Did he die in prison. Where did he go?
