Bert was released because one of his sister's was dying. I have no idea which one.





If my research is correct I found his sister Letha in 1916 having a trial of her own, seems she took an axe to her husbands head. Here's some newspaper articles.

Bert died 6 Oct 1957 in Darby, Montana

Below is his brother Hiram Ely Smith who was also in Montana


What a sad family story, but in the end it all turns out, Letha did have 3 daughters with Robert Moore. I believe Letha died in 1918.
