William Hordemann  born Wilhelm in 1849 in Germany to Joseph Hordemann & Maria Elisabeth Zwinge.

In June of 1887 William was accused of Murdering G.M. Nichols, because William was moving cattle on his land which he says was a public roadway.

He was sentenced to 6 years for manslaughter

Below is the only record in his prison file I found on Ancestry, asking for a pardon and signed 30 Jun 1891.

William had been married several times and had 3 children I found, He died 10 Jun 1932 in Genesee, ID. I found a photo of him and his wife Maria, which was posted on Ancestry by Randall Hordemann. Photo was taken between 1907 & 1909 in Genesee, ID in their International Harvester Buggy.

There are many spellings for Williams last name.

What an incredible story, if this was my ancestor I would try and get the court records, they would be a gold mine into what all happened and id William took the stand his story would be on record. Also it would say why it was manslaughter and not murder.
