Two Women's Disappearances In 1904: Nettie Strenkorb & Edith Williams

We will start with the love sick Nettie Lenordeon she was born Jun 1880 in Kansas , I did not find her parents but she had a sister Mrs. Mary Silk.

Photo cut from same article posted below. Frederick her husband, Ernest her son and Nettie herself.

In 1904 she disappears

Here is a link to her story from Newspapers.com

Nettie was 22 years old at this time and a few year prior when she was 18, she was in love with a soldier who was sent with his regiment to the Philippine Islands where she believed he had been killed. He recently came back home in a dying state and reached out to her to say his goodbyes.

This broke her into pieces and she wanted to die, with plans of drowning herself and a man pleading for her to not go through with it, the authorities caught up with her and she gave them her story and said she would not return to her husband who was cruel to her and she did not love.

Newspaper article about the authorities finding her:

I found these articles on their separation/divorce.

I believe Nettie may have re-married to a Mr. Payne as Ernest death information says Nettie's last name is Payne.

As for Nettie I did not find a solid lead for what happened to her. I hope she found what she was looking for and spent the rest of her life happily ever after.

Here is the song Auld Robin Grey, that the newspapers mentioned.

Edith Williams

Born 10 Feb 1886 to William Louis Williams (1853-1922) & Anna Rowena Carson (1855-1927)

Here are the links to some of her story of disappearance in 1904.

Her story when she was found and returned home. I do not believe a word of it.

She claims to of left home on an errand for her mother, ran into two women and a man with a vehicle, was enticed for a ride and given something with yellow spots on it to drink. An the poor thing was in a dazed condition ever since. The police discredit her story. Imagine that. I wonder what really happened.

Edith marries William Luis Harper (1880-1956) in 1915 and they have one child Beverly in 1917.

So sad for her and her family.

When I found these stories and I was researching them I was amazed they were found as why I wanted to write their stories. Very intriguing for sure. What are your thoughts on these ladies? leave me comments in the comment section, I am always alerted when they are posted. Also give me a follow by clicking that follow button here on my blog.
