Gertrude Mabel Butler: Missing x2

Gertrude Mabel Butler was born 18 May 1880 in Powellville, California to possibly Judson C. Butler & Lucinda.

Gertrude married Melvin Young 7 Sep 1899 in Los Angeles, CA

I believe they had a son Lewis Elmore Young (1901-1959) after they divorced in 1900. She went missing in Aug 1900, here are a few newspaper articles with the story.

Melvin & Gertrude divorced and she married her second husband on 21 Mar 1906,  Arthur Thomas Willis (1873-1959) They would divorce 16 Sep 1911.

She married husband #3 on 28 May 1914 Lester Lawrence Sidwell (1879-1960). They would divorce 3 Sep 1914.

 She would marry her last husband #4  Frank Amen Coffman (1872-1852).

Gertrude would die in Los Angeles on 9 Jun 1931.

I find her life so strange, why so many husbands? was she mentally ill? Did something happen to her?
