Taped confession

Edward said he strangled Nancy with a clothesline and stuck a tea towel down her throat and buried her body in a field, where later a farmer would see a red toenail sticking out of the ground and would call the police.

Nancy's mom was beside herself during the trial, as Edward had told her Nancy left him and he had spent an entire day at her house while they were calling friends and family looking for her. It didn't help that two other people were missing during the same time, and were all put together in the newspapers.
