Samuel Dalve was born about 1874, he was married to Lydia Anne Bonar who was born about 1860 in Iowa and died Jan 1926 in San Jose, CA.
On in April of 1919 at around 6pm Sam was last seen at San Pablo & University Aves in Berkley. He was an electrician for San Francisco & Oakland Terminal for Railway for the street cars. There were no troubles at home, but he was suffering from an ear infection. He was a man of high morals and good standing in the community. (Source for this is the Madera County Sheriff's Album, 1919, Felony by Madera County (Calif.) Sheriff) As well as a photo of him.

In the 1920 Census his wife Lydia is living with her sister in San Jose, CA. I am not sure what happened to either of them after this as the records end with voting records for him in 1928 living in Santa Clara, CA. The last record I found on his wife was her obituary for 1926.
Such a strange story, wonder what really happened, where was he all those months? Maybe his story was passed down and someone will share it with us in the comments.
Hey, Gwen. I've left Facebook. I do miss the group there, but I just couldn't stand it any more. That is definitely a weird story! And it does leave one wondering just what he had been up to during that year. A maternal great-great grandfather of mine disappeared from his Indiana home one evening in 1879. He later turned up in Wisconsin, where he married again -- while still married to my great-great grandma back in Indiana! She eventually was granted an uncontested divorce and, as could be expected, got custody of their three children.
