Catherine Butin-Conway & her 10 year old daughter MURDERED 1885 Kanas City, MO

Catherine Butin-Conway was born about 1844. She lived at 410 East 8th St in Kansas City, MO with her husband John D. Conway, Her sons John Age 15 and James age 8, and their daughter who turned 10 years old the day she was murdered along with her mother.

Her sons were working at their jobs and her husband was a dairyman and was gone working as well.

Here's a newspaper article where John explains his day and when he got word of the murders. Just click the link below.

From the same newspaper is a diagram of what the floor plan of the house looked like and where the bodies were found.

The police must of been desperate to solve this case or at the very least close it. They arrested John and he was tried and acquitted. Then they arrested Thomas Turner who was also tried and acquitted,. (He is mentioned in this article).

Bates County Republican

This is an unsolved murders

The newspaper reported I feel did a really good job at getting the story. Did you catch that their dog was poisoned the Saturday before, it was a Bull dog. So this was premeditated.

The poor boys lost so much but John did re-marry, he married the lady who found the victims, she was his neighbor. I am not sure how long after the murders it was, I think a year. I re-read the articles and couldn't find it again.
