I have a long, sad family story for you. Since there are so many people to write about I am going to start with the parents first and then go through their children by birth.
William Wesley Loomis (1856-1897), married 29 Sep 1878 in San Joaquin County, CA. To Virginia E, Kelley (1857-1941). They had eight children, 6 boys & 2 girls. William was the son of Israel Philander Loomis & Virginia Jane Hall. Virginia Kelley was born to Daniel Kelley & Margaret McAfee.
On the 14 Apr 1897 William and his son Boyd (age 18 at the time) were in Lodi, CA drinking, William was drunk and disorderly and a officer was taking him to jail with Boyd in tow. The officer warned Boyd to let go of his father or he too would be locked up. Boyd starting beating the officer and pulled a knife so in the fight officer Jones ended up shooting William below the heart in the chest and the bullet came out the back. William died from his wound. See the link for the newspaper articles posted below. William was a harness maker.

Some time later his wife Virginia re-married to a man named John B. Howe.
