 Eugene Griffin was born about 1892 in California.

In Mar of 1910 he was placed in Preston Reformatory School for theft. He accumulated seven burglaries. While in Reform school he and a boy named Albert Brown stole a gun for the bakery on compass and a guard or patrolman was chasing them and Eugene fired the gun at him. They were caught and sent to prison.

As far as I can tell he wasn't in any other trouble, unless he did it with an alias or in other states. But he sure was off to a bad start at such a young age.
