Harry Charles Beasley was born 1 Nov 1889 in Newark, OH. To Charles H. Beasley (1865-1942) & Alice May Allsdorf (1870-1932).
He married 28 Oct 1916 to Esther Sara Stasel (1888-1977).
On 2 June 1931 he was a patrolman for the Newark Police Department on West Main Street. He holstered his colt .45 revolver and at 5pm he walked out of the police station. He attempted to stop several burglars from breaking into a safe at a local shoe store. The suspects were never identified. According to the Ohio American Local History Network detectives never closed the case, and they continued for decades to find the men.
Although there were many suspects and some held for questioning, no one was ever convicted. I found these newspaper articles.

Harry was a Medal of Honor recipient.
Mexican Campaign (Vera Cruz) - U.S. Navy
On board the U.S.S. Florida for extraordinary heroism in the line of his profession during the seizure of Vera Cruz, Mexico, 21 April 1914, he was 24 years old.
Additional information on his action comes from U.S. Navy General Order No. 101, dated June 15, 1914. "On April 21, at about 12:30 p.m., Ensign G. M. Lowry, in command of First Company, Florida Battalion, at the customhouse, called for volunteers to go into an alleyway between the customhouse and an open warehouse down which a heavy fire was being directed by the enemy. Sinnett responded with four others and finally succeeded in dislodging the enemy." The other four volunteers were George Cregan, Lawrence C. Sinnett, Joseph G. Harner, and J. F. Schumacker. All except for Schumacker received the Medal of Honor.
He wife received a pension of $40 a month.
