Melvin Charles Host was born 2 Jul 1924 in Orrville, Ohio, to Raymond Ephriam Horst (1900-1961) & Zorah Lucille Ault (1899-1987).
On 27 Dec 1928 Melvin went outside to play with two other boys at the school yard at the south end of the village of Orrville, OH. Dusk was about 5 pm and his playmates were called come for supper. Melvin was left to walk by himself the block and 1/2 home through a short alley. He was not home by 4:30pm and his mother became worried, so his father Ray and the neighbor's searched for him. He was never found.
Orrville City Marshal Roy E. Horst (Ray's brother) organized a search party including the local Boy Scouts and he alerted the local hospitals and police departments.
Aron radio station WADC broadcast Melvin's disappearance.

Melvin had two siblings that I found, Eliza & Ralph.
By 1950 Ray & Zorah had moved to Florida where they both died.
So sad this little boy at 4 years old had to of been so scared.
I posted a YouTube video for you as well, to better understand the case as there were people tried and acquitted, there were confessions that were coerced, and a physic who had a vision.
