He father at age 59 was a Holster for the railroad in 1920 in Chillicothe, Peoria, Illinois. (Hostler: A fireman who operates light engines in designated engine house territory and works under the direction of the engine house foreman). Harold work for the same railroad with his father.
Harold was a cook by 1930 in Folsom Prison.
His criminal records range from 1923-1934. From being drunk, battery, pippin, assault, murder.
He was arrested for the murder and put in Tulare County Jail in California until his trial. He was hung at folsom prison 1 Feb 1935 at the gallows.
He admitted he did it and plead guilty, his sister Grace tried to get up to beg for mercy and take life in prison and he refused saying "A Life For A Life."
She was married to William T Sherman no children, and to John Sherman Surby, they had 2 sons, Byrd Manly Surby 1906-1956 and Raymond B Surby 1908-1950.
Her son Byrd Manly Surby was convicted many times and spent endless amounts of time in the Tulare County Jail, for driving drunk and statutory rape several times with 2 being dropped by the District Attorney Office.

Both brothers spent time in juvenile hall.
