Maria S Amoral was born Maria S Selvia born about 1868 in Portugal.

She was married to Antone L Amoral (1867-1902)

Maria was a widow by the 1930 census and she herself died 8 Oct 1947 in Santa Cruz, CA

According to the newspaper article she was a mean women and beat her niece with a stick until she died, she then laid her out to rest and sewed up her wounds. 

She was only in prison for 2 years and being discharged from parole in 1897 for a total of 3 years in the system.

I am not sure why she was given manslaughter instead of murder, I did not find a newspaper article about the trial.
