Herbert Lewis Applestill was born in Carter County, TN to Charles Applestill (1874-1950) and Rosa Katherine Merritt (1876-1950). Third child of seven.
Here's another stint this time in Folsom Prison
While he was in a car heading to Prison he decided to jump from the car which ended up giving him a fractured skull. I wonder if he was actually trying to escape and not kill himself.

Herbert died 2 Dec 1963 in Los Angeles, CA. As far as I know he had no children.
