George L Osgood: Bigamy

George L Osgood was born Nov 1865 in Massachusetts.

Inmate #18413 San Quentin Prison (California)
Rec: 18 Dec 1899
Crime: Bigamy
Term: 1 year
Age: 34

George had a Petty Larceny charge in July 1898 that was dismissed.

I read many newspaper articles and here are the wives mentioned, I would think there maybe a few more. I didn't put them in order as the marriage dates on some are missing.

Tillie Alice Glover Married 15 Feb 1889
Nellie J Kinselle Married 16 Feb 1889
Mary Frances Bourne Married 9 July 1898
Angie Mills
Miss Barr

Another mentioned he married in Texas but no name was given.

Here are a few newspaper articles:

Mary Frances Bourne had been married before and divorced she was out to get George.

Mary Frances Bourne's Newspaper photo

She is the only one I found a tree for and a marriage record

She was married to W. D. Wynne (Winn)

In Aug of 1904 she files for an annulment

Nellie J Kinselle may have married Harry D Blasland on 29 Oct 1901 in Los Angeles, CA. Her father was John P Kinselle and she had a sister named Loretta Kinselle.

I didn't find any other genealogy information on the other wives.

The newspaper link below has the most detailed information on his wives:

George L Osgood was a career criminal, and his gig was up when one wife was wiser than he. He was marrying these ladies to steal money from them and use them for his own personal gain. He was mean and abusive according to his wives statements. But in the end they got their revenge, but at what cost? He only spent a year in prison getting out 18 Oct 1900. He is in the 1900 census as an inmate in San Quentin. Where he went and what he did after is a mystery for now.

Hopefully the wives all found happiness with gentle hearted men and the rest of lives were peaceful.

Here is a good Book on Bigamy for that time period:
