Joan Frances was born 11 June 1886 in Coal Creek, TN to Archibel Bedford Frances (1856-1938) & Dice Addie Hoskins (1856-1931). She grew up in coal miners camps.
She got into and argument with her brother-in-law (husbands brother) James McDonald, he pulled her hair she threw catsup and vegetables at him, she got a gun pulled it out and shot him but she doesn't remember anything after that.
