Alienation of affections is a common law tort, abolished in many jurisdictions. Where it still exists, an action is brought by a spouse against a third party alleged to be responsible for damaging the marriage, most often resulting in divorce. The defendant in an alienation of affections suit is typically an adulterous spouse's lover, although family members, counselors and therapists or clergy members who have advised a spouse to seek divorce have also been sued for alienation of affections.

Alfred's son Richard Read was well known as Richard Willis Evans, Detroit Tigers Baseball pitcher.

The last article written said Alfred was in Hollywood to be in a motion picture, I didn't find anything when I googled it. Maybe it was flop or he just didn't get a part.

This story reminds of this quote:

Share. “O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive!” -Sir Walter Scott

Whenever we deceive others, in order to make things better for ourselves in the moment, we deceive ourselves most of all.

Seems fitting under the circumstances.
