In 1923 his sentence was reduced to 20 years.

Charles was released on parole 18 Mar 1924, by 1930 I believe he was married to Constance L. (Maiden name unknown) according to the 1930 census. I believe they had a son Ernest Darryl Hadley 1931-1998. They must of divorced or she died, because he married again the 21 Mar 1932 to Grace Edith Grover (1913-1987) they had the following children.

Darrell Lee Hadley
1933–
Yvonne Edith Hadley
1934–1998
Russell Wilson Hadley

1938–2016

Because of his age and involvement he was charged with robbery and not murder.

The man murdered during the robbery, Philip Mertz I didn't find anything about him.

Charles turned his life around and became a Motorman and owned his own home at 2501 Burton Street in El Monte, CA.
