William made tried to make a deal with a man who had a young boy who needed extra care, Jennie & Frank Bates would of lost out on the extra money and a fight ensued, William claimed they came after him with a knife and he shot them both in self defense. As his arrest and trial began his father committed suicide because of the embarrassment, which seemed to help out William's defense because now he could afford a lawyer.
His dad died 27 Jan 1918, His mother died 22 Feb 1918. She was already an invalid for several years, and was in poor health. They had 13 children together.
William had a brother named Guy Rader in 1940 he would be a resident at Agnews State Hospital for the insane.
Sad family story, I made a tree added everything, there are a couple other trees none have the same information. I did not find William's death information, or if he was ever married. This was definitely a crime of passion and not plotted, if Jennie would of alos died he probably would of gotten the death penalty.
