He escapes and get caught and sent to Atlanta, GA for his remainder of time. During all this time his wife asks for a divorce and it's all over the newspapers for months in 1936.





He has a long record:

4 Sep 1934 he was inmate #110 at Alcatraz for robbing mail truck 2 counts. Transferred to Leavenworth.

He was also at Leavenworth in 1930 and released 18 Jun 1938.

Roy married Florence Irene Nelson nickname "Dolly" 1 Jun 1916, they had a daughter named Jean Abbie Gardner (1917-1995). Florence was a nurse at Napa State Hospital, after she divorced Roy she married William Parkes a Merchant Seaman from England (1896-2002).

Roy committed suicide on 10 Jan 1940, he rented a room in a hotel and left this note on his bathroom door.

I guess it was a huge changed in the outside world after being locked up for so long, and waking up feeling old, although he was only 52 when he took his life.
