Ruth Brock: Incorrigible

Ruth Brock was born 14 June 1893 in San Diego, CA. To Alexander Horatio Brock (1852-1912) & Harriet Jane Hamilton (1872-1956).

Unfortunately I could not find these newspaper articles so I could get better images, these I clipped from her juvenile record above. She was paroled 12 Aug 1911. The Door of Hope was some kind of a home for black children in San Francisco.

Her father Alexander was born in the West Indies. He had a wife named Maria Pparia married in 1869, and they had one daughter. Here is what I found out about him. Harriet and him married in 1892. They had 10 children. Ruth was the oldest.

Alexander ran into some trouble with the law for alcohol, but he seemed to have some great business ideas that would fall apart.

Then the booze problem arises and he lands in jail.

Then I found an article about a fight:

Then he is found dead 1912

Then in 1929 Ruth's sister Rosa dies

While she was married to James P Morgan was admitted to Stockton State Hospital for the Insane according to the 1940 Census.

She married James Alexander Mullings in Honolulu on 27 Jan 1917 they took off together to get married there. He was born 14 Apr 1875 in Turks and Caicos Islands.
